As I have loved noodles and soup since I was a child, I went to a Japanese restaurant to try authentic ramen. Seeing the giant bowl of noodles, broth, and veggies brought to the table, I was stoked. With each slurp of noodle and sip of broth, I felt like I was transported to another place. The freshness of the vegetables and the very skillfully cooked noodles was very satisfying. I enjoyed it fully.

Ramen is an adaptation of Chinese wheat noodles. It was popularized after the second world war. In the twentieth century, instant ramen was invented and is most recognizable in the United States as a fast and convenient food.

Ramen can be distinguished by the two main ingredients; its noodles and broth. By switching around the type of noodles and broth, the flavors have been divided into four combinations of ramen. Therefore, there are many varieties of ramen that can satisfy a lot of different people’s appetites.

Ramen evolved in a variety of different ways at different times and places, making it one of Japan's most well-loved comfort foods. Its popularity, contributed by the widespread internet and comments by foodies, chefs, and other restaurant connoisseurs, have grown to the masses allowing more and more ramen restaurants to pop up for all to try. With all the new ways to eat and enjoy ramen, the one traditional bow of Shoyu Ramen will never go out of style. The classic taste of this dish holds its own. Most Japanese people always return to this comfort food.
